How we handle your data. Plain English. Zero nonsense.

ZeroNonsense ("we", "us", "our") is committed to being transparent about how we handle your data. This policy covers the ZeroNonsense website and its two practice products: ZeroPrep (interview questions) and ZeroBoard (whiteboard challenge practice). It explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how it is used.

01What we collect

When you complete onboarding, and only after you give consent with the checkbox, we collect:

• The name you enter (this can be any name — we do not verify identity)
• Your selected interview track (UX Designer, Product Designer, or Design Lead)
• Your experience level
• Device type (mobile or desktop)
• Timezone

As you practice, we also record a few usage numbers against the same record:

• Your current level, total sparks, and number of completed practice sessions
• When you were last active, and roughly how much time you've spent in the app

This record is keyed to a random ID created in your browser. It is not linked to an email address or an account.

02What we don't collect

• Email addresses
• Passwords or authentication credentials
• Payment information
• Your interview answers, whiteboard drawings, notes, or chats with the AI interviewer — these are sent to OpenAI for feedback (see below) and are never stored on ZeroNonsense servers
• Any sensitive personal information

03What gets sent to the AI

To score your work and respond to you, some of what you enter is sent to OpenAI's API. We pass it through for processing and don't keep a copy.

ZeroPrep

• The question and your answer, typed or transcribed from your voice
• Your experience level, so questions and feedback match it
• If you use portfolio review, the text of your portfolio's home page and of the case study pages you choose, plus any case study PDF or text you add. PDFs are read on your device, and only their text is sent.

ZeroBoard

• Your messages to the AI interviewer, with the recent conversation for context
• When you submit a round for review: your stage notes, your interviewer chat, timing for each stage, and an image of your drawing board
• Prompts you paste into Breakdown, along with the optional company and level

04Where your practice data lives

Your practice history is stored in your browser's localStorage, on this device only:

• ZeroPrep — your level, sparks, the questions you've already seen, and the scores from each session
• ZeroBoard — your most recent 30 rounds (notes, drawings, interviewer chats and reviews) and your most recent 20 breakdowns

We can't see this data. The only progress data that reaches our database is the usage numbers listed in section 01.

05How we use the data we collect

The data in section 01 is used solely to understand how the app is being used — for example, which tracks are most popular, what experience levels our users have, and how much people practice. This helps us improve the product.

What you send to the AI is used only to generate your feedback, interviewer replies, reviews and breakdowns.

We do not use any of this data for advertising, profiling, or any commercial purpose beyond running and improving ZeroNonsense.

06Cookies and local storage

• One essential session cookie. Set when you finish onboarding, it proves your browser passed the sign-up check and keeps usage limits fair on the AI features. It holds your random ID, your track and those usage limits, can't be read by scripts on the page, and expires after 12 hours.
• localStorage. Stores your progress (section 04) and your light or dark theme choice.

We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

07Third-party services

ZeroNonsense uses the following third-party services:

• OpenAI — Processes the content described in section 03 to generate feedback. OpenAI's privacy policy and API data terms apply, and OpenAI may keep API data for a limited time under those terms. We do not store it.
• Supabase — Stores the analytics data in section 01 in a secure cloud database.
• Vercel — Hosts the app and provides privacy-friendly page-view analytics. Standard server logs (IP addresses, request logs) may be retained by Vercel per their privacy policy.
• Cloudflare Turnstile — Checks that a real person is signing up before the AI features unlock. Cloudflare may process your IP address and browser signals for this check.
• Jina AI Reader — If you use portfolio review, our server first reads your portfolio pages itself and doesn't keep a copy. If a page only loads with JavaScript, your browser fetches that page through Jina's reader service instead to extract its text.
• Your browser's speech recognition — Voice answers use the speech-to-text built into your browser. Some browsers, such as Chrome, send the audio to their own servers to transcribe it.
• Google Fonts and cdnjs — Our pages load fonts and animation scripts from these services, which receive standard request data such as your IP address.
• Razorpay — Only if you choose to support us. Payment happens on Razorpay's site, and we never see your card details.

08Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third parties for commercial purposes. Data is only shared with the service providers listed above as necessary to operate the app.

09Retention and deletion

• Analytics data (section 01) is kept for product improvement until you ask us to delete it. Email us with the name you entered and roughly when you signed up, and we'll find and delete the matching record.
• Practice data (section 04) stays in your browser until you clear it. You can delete individual breakdowns inside ZeroBoard, or clear this site's data in your browser settings to remove everything.
• The session cookie expires on its own after 12 hours.

10Children

ZeroNonsense is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

11Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent update. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
